NJ Junior: Top seed Gotterup survives

RUMSON – Top-seeded Chris Gotterup stayed alive at the 94th New Jersey Junior Championship. Gotterup, 16, a Little Silver resident, earned a trip to Wednesday’s semifinals by holding off No. 8 Chris Kopack of Ramsey, 1 up, on his home course, Rumson CC. Also posting quarterfinal wins: No. 4 Jake Mayer of Plainfield, No. 6 Sam Goldenring of Brooklake, and No. 7 Dylan Stein of Copper Hill. Mayer won his quarterfinal, 1 up, over No. 12 Paolo Matti of Plainfield West. Goldenring def. No. 3 Reid Bedell of Manasquan River, 5 and 4. Stein topped former Hunterdon Central High teammate, No. 2 James Wolfangel of Copper Hill, 2 and 1.
