MONTGOMERY – Jersey City’s Tara Fleming won the 2nd annual New Jersey Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship this afternoon.
Fleming, 48, shot 5-over-par 78 at Bedens Brook Club for a two-way total of 155 and 10-stroke victory. She had two birdies, three bogeys and two double-bogeys.
“It’s nice to have your name in the records for something,” said Fleming, who plays out of New Jersey National and works in Manhattan for AIG, “so I’m excited about it.”
Fleming finished 10 strokes ahead of Katie Renoff of Trump Bedminster and Alicia Kapheim of Hopewell Valley. Renoff closed with 80 and Kapheim had 83.
Fleming was not in last year’s inaugural NJSGA event for ages 30 and over because she was competing at a qualifier for the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur.
